Extremely rare war date autograph endorsement signed by Confederate General Albert Sidney Johnston approving the resignation of an officer - This was signed by Johnston just six weeks before he was killed at Shiloh - Signed as the ranking Confederate General, on an approximately 6 1/4" by 3 1/8" sheet, dated Feb. 10, 1862 - It reads as follows: "Feby 10th 1862/Resply forwarded/A.S. Johnston/Genl./C.S.A." Just above it is an Autograph Endorsement Signed by James R. Chalmers as Colonel of the 9th Mississippi Regiment - $17,000.00
